Ronda Rousey made a shock return to WWE and won the Women’s Royal Rumble match to book her ticket to the main event of WrestleMania.
Having not been on WWE TV since WrestleMania 38, Rousey made her return to the ring just four months after giving birth.
The match itself featured several top stars, returning legends and Hall of Famers before Rousey made her late entrance.
Sasha Banks came out number one after she had not been expected to be in the Rumble at all until she appeared on SmackDown the night before.
Number two was former Divas champion and WWE legend Melina complete with her iconic entrance. Sadly, it did not last long for Melina as she was rather quickly dumped out by Banks, but The Boss wasn’t in it for the long haul either.
Banks quite shockingly departed the contest thanks to Tamina and Zelina Vega before Bianca Belair could arrive as the number eight entrant.
Surprises included Brie Bella, Kelly Kelly, Michelle McCool and Cameron before Mickie James entered the fray at number 20, complete with her IMPACT Knockout’s title and to her Hardcore Country theme.
Nikki Bella joined the party at 23 with her sister still in the match. The Bellas proceeded to split up a Riott Squad reunion between Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan by drumping both ladies out.
But, at number 28, Rousey finally made her return to WWE after nearly three years away and she immediately took it straight to the remaining competitors. That spurred Brie Bella to dump out her sister Nikki amidst the chaos, payback for Nikki doing the same to her in 2018.
Shayna Baszler was the coveted number 30 and that paved the way for a cool reunion with Four Horsewoman of MMA friend, Rousey.
The final four saw Belair, Baszler and Charlotte Flair with Rousey, but Belair and Baszler were quickly eliminated leaving old rivals Flair and Rousey in the ring to settle the winner.
Flair charged at Rousey and immediately paid for it as she was dump out over the top rope leaving the former UFC champion to point to the WrestleMania 38 sign.
Earlier in the day, Dave Meltzer had reported that the plan for WrestleMania is Flair versus Rousey.
