KUWAIT CITY, Jan 31: Fourteen young, adventurous Kuwaiti women scaled the peak of Jebel Shams in the Sultanate of Oman, which is the highest peak in the Arabian Gulf region – 3030 meters high, reports Al-Qabas daily. This is another testimony that refl ects the ability of the Kuwaiti women to overcome any difficulties and face the harshest challenges of life. During a meeting with Al-Qabas, Jenan Al-Qena’i, one of the ‘mountaineers’, said: “We were 15 women, 14 from Kuwait, and one from Bahrain, aged between 20 and 45 years, and our journey, started at 6 in the morning and it took us 7 hours to reach the top of the mountain and as many hours to climb down; regarding the obstacles that the team faced, Al-Qenai said: “We faced difficult slopes and great hardship.
“Looking down was just terrifying and confusing, no matter how strong the person, but Captain Ali Al-Dihan, head of the Thunders Club, had trained us well and taught us a special breathing technique during the climb and descend and this is what happened, where the women showed a great deal of courage, and it was a surprise for me. They armed themselves with great courage and overcame these difficulties until they reached the top of the mountain.” Regarding rumors that Kuwaiti women live in luxury and are not exposed to difficult situations, Al-Qenai said: “Our ascent to the highest peak in the Arabian Gulf confirms that the Kuwaiti woman is the sister of men. Yes, we live in luxury, but we also have the courage and ability to adapt to all circumstances.”
