On February 6, the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away. She was bestowed upon the title of the Nightingale of India due to her melodious voice. Her body of work is extremely vast and notable. She has sung many iconic songs that generations have enjoyed listening to and singing along to.
Upon hearing about her demise, many of her family and friends from the fraternity stood in solidarity to pay their respects. The Prime Minister of India flew down from the capital to personally convey his condolences to the singer’s family.
PETA India, the animal rights group, remembers Shrimati Lata Tai as an avid animal and nature lover. She didn’t shy away from showering love to the stray animals. Shrimati Lata Tai went out of her way to contribute to their well-being. Her purpose was to educate and raise awareness of building a healthy ecosystem for distressed animals.
While speaking to Times of India, The PETA India Director Of PR, Sachin Bangera said, “Humans and animals everywhere have lost a great friend today. Lata ji’s love for animals and compassion will always be remembered. On the occasion of International Dog Day, Lata ji urged people to come forward to feed the community animals and not harm them. Let us all be inspired by her words and always help animals. Lata tai, we’ll miss you!”.
