While the virus has been shown to cause less serious illness in general, it has proven to come with an increased risk of reinfection.
The rates of reinfection have been about 10 times higher this year compared with rates seen earlier in the pandemic.
But is it possible to catch Covid twice in one month?
Here are the answers you’ve been looking for.
Can you catch Covid twice in one month?
Although research on Covid-19 reinfection varies massively, one thing is certain: you cannot catch the disease again within a month.
All current studies point at immunity after getting infected lasting anywhere between three months and several years.
This means that it is incredibly unlikely that you can catch Covid-19 within a month – however, you can catch it as soon as three months later.
If you test positive, negative, and then positive again within 90 days then this does not count as reinfection.
Instead, is officially seen as the same case.
For those testing positive a matter of weeks after first getting a positive test, it is more likely this is from the residual effects of the initial infection.
Only if you test positive outside of the 90 days would this be seen as reinfection.
