Zendaya Appears to Have Cut Off Her Hair and My Oxygen Supply

If Zendaya‘s goal when she attended the HBO Max FYC Euphoria event this week was to simultaneously freak us out and make us what to chop our hair off, well, achievement unlocked.

On April 20, the actor, model, and all-around untouchably cool specimen of a human walked the red (but actually kinda grayish-black) carpet at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures alongside her Euphoria costars Alexa Demie, Hunter Schafer, Maude Apatow, Barbie Ferreira, and Sydney Sweeney. Every last one of them was serving serious lookage — that Betty Boop hair on Demie, oh my goodness — but our jaws dropped when we saw the Dune star with what appeared to be significantly shorter hair than what she had during her last public appearance at the Oscars and Vanity Fair afterparty.

It’s not that we haven’t seen Zendaya wear a short hairstyle before. Remember her red baby bangs and wavy bob at the 2018 Met Gala? Or when she went through a pixie phase in 2015? Hell, she even tricked us into thinking she’d chopped it off just last fall. It’s just that we’re so used to seeing it long — and friggin’ stunning — lately thanks to Euphoria and Zendaya just generally existing in a perceptible way that it’s a shock to the system when it seems to have been chopped off.

But, as with certain Zendaya bobs before this, we’re all but entirely sure this a faux bob. The sleek top and sides flow into slightly wavy ends that, at close inspection, look expertly tucked under to resemble a true haircut.
