Fanatical followers of the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard defamation trial will need to take a deep breath as the riveting proceedings take a week-long break.

So who does the break benefit?
Experts told the New York Post that it was a gift to Team Depp but some noted Heard could benefit as well with jurors taking the time to weigh the believability of her dramatic testimony.
That could be helped because there was no immediate cross-examination to prick holes in her story.

“(Heard’s story is left) marinating in their minds, and maybe solidifying that … this is what really happened and this is the truth,” New York family lawyer Sandra Radna told The Post.
“Maybe no matter what Johnny Depp’s team does afterward, it can’t change them, because now they’ve they’ve sat with that for a week.”
However, trial consultant Jill Huntley Taylor said the break gives Depp’s legal eagles time to go over Heard’s testimony with a fine-toothed comb. That may mean that Heard could be ripped to shreds on cross-examination when proceedings continue.

“I do think there is a real strategic advantage to that,” Huntley Taylor told The Post.

Heard’s testimony will resume on May 16.
One entertainment lawyer expected that Depp’s lawyers will smear his former wife with everything in the book
“Johnny’s team is going to be pivoting based on what they heard in her testimony,” Mitra Ahouraian said.
One Depp insider told the tabloid that his team sees the hiatus as “an advantage” to pick apart Heard’s direct examination.
“While the jury has time to ruminate on Ms. Heard’s testimony they may forget portions of it,” celebrity lawyer Jeffrey Movit said. “Moreover, her testimony will be significantly separated in time from that of the other witnesses in support of her case.”
