Zungu, who played several matches for Bafana Bafana and could now be a sough-after recruit for Chiefs, signed for Scottish club Rangers on loan from Amiens in October 2020.

Rangers also secured an option to sign him permanently for a £2.7 million transfer fee. However, his first association with Amiens began when he joined the club from Vitoria Guimarares in 2017.
The 29-year-old is entering the final two months of his contract, and with his game time for Amiens proving to be sporadic, it’s now been confirmed that he is longer part of the club’s plans going forward.
“Zungu and Gnahoré were not expected to stay,” Amiens Sporting Director John Williams has confirmed
“This summer, we are going to end the Ligue 1 era with players fully involved in the Ligue 2 project and less frustrated at the idea of playing in Ligue 2. We must start with a positive project with a desire to perform.”

With his experience and talent, Zungu would surely be the ideal signing for Amakhosi, who are determined to bolster their squad ahead of next season.
Zungu himself recently stated that he hadn’t spoken with Amiens about his future.
“This is life! I am a good player, I know it, and if I invest, if I work hard, I can find a club in Ligue 1 or anywhere else in the world,” he said, as per Le11Amienois two weeks ago.
“This is an option, if we do not agree during discussions.”
