Subaru’s seventh-generation sedan, the appropriately named Legacy, has received a mid-cycle refresh that’s added a fresh face, a turbo engine in the Sport models, and some new technologies across the range.

Note: These details and images are from the U.S. press release. Stay tuned for Canadian-market specifics.

Changes to the car’s appearance are externally focused on the front end, where restyled LEDs, fog lights, and a new front fascia give it a sharper, more dramatic look.

All models come standard with an upgraded version of the brand’s EyeSight driver assist, this time around with a wider field of view and an electric brake booster. The top Touring XT trim adds a new wide-angle mono camera to enhance the vehicle’s scope and ability to detect pedestrians and cyclists, and will also option black Nappa leather with silver stitching, and other subtle interior details.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also now accessible via the car’s 11.6-inch screen, which includes new on-screen controls for a variety of HVAC, audio, and technical features. Models equipped with navigation will also now feature the what3words (W3W) location system that dictates precise locations with just three words.

The Sport trim models now come standard with Subaru’s turbocharged 2.4L Boxer engine making 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque, a decent step up in performance over the base model’s naturally aspirated 2.5L, which makes 182 horsepower and 186 lb-ft. These models also get “sport-tuned” suspension, red accents on the grille, magnetic grey side mirrors and rear spoiler, 18-inch alloy wheels, and contrast stitching inside.

The 2023 Subaru Legacy is scheduled to arrive in Canada this fall, with pricing to be announced in the coming months.
