Jif peanut butter products manufactured at a Kentucky facility have been recalled after an outbreak of salmonella was discovered.

J.M. Smucker Company voluntarily recalled the peanut butter, including products with lot code numbers between 1274425 – 2140425, only if the first seven digits end with 425. The outbreak is traced back to a Smucker facility in Lexington, Ky.

Jif products have a shelf life of two years, the Food and Drug Administration said, warning consumers that they should check all Jif products in their possession.

Cases of salmonellosis connected to Jif products have been discovered in multiple states.

The FDA recommends that if you find recalled Jif products in your home, you should wash and sanitize any surfaces or utensils that could have touched the peanut butter. If you have consumed the affected peanut butter and have symptoms of salmonellosis, the FDA recommends contacting a healthcare provider.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the FDA are investigating the outbreak.
