Muse, one of the best live acts on the planet, has been announced as a replacement headliner for the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento.
The English alt-rock trio, consisting of of vocalist-guitarist-keyboardist Matt Bellamy, bassist Chris Wolstenholme and drummer Dominic Howard, will headline on Oct. 9, the last day of the four-day festival.
The slot was originally set to go to the Foo Fighters, but the band ended up canceling all tour dates after drummer Taylor Hawkins died in March.
Muse will be supporting its ninth studio album, “Will of the People,” which is set to be released on Aug. 26.
The other three Aftershock festival headliners are Slipknot (Oct. 6), KISS (Oct. 7) and My Chemical Romance (Oct. 8).
The bill also includes such acts as Halestorm, Judas Priest, Rob Zombie, Evanescence, A Day to Remember, the Pretty Reckless, Zakk Sabbath, Papa Roach, Chevelle, Apocalyptica, Helmet, Stone Temple Pilots and Killswitch Engage.
The festival runs Oct. 6-9 at Discovery Park in Sacramento. Tickets ($129-$149 regular, $289.99-$304.99 VIP packages) are not on sale. For more information, visit aftershockfestival.com.
