Social media users have shared the top online with proof it cleared screens in seconds while keeping your hands nice and warm. According to several videos, instead of scraping off the ice using a de-icer, drivers should use a sandwich bag instead.
TikTok user @kimbutt26 was seen filling a plastic carrier bag with boiling water before placing on their windscreen.
More than 172,000 people have liked the clip with others sharing it on their own pages.
Crucially, the trick prevents booking hot water from coming in direct contact with the windscreen glass.
This limits the danger of the glass expanding and cracking under the sudden temperature changes.
