Justin Bieber had a worrying update for his fans on Friday when he revealed that he is experiencing partial facial paralysis due to a condition called Ramsay Hunt Syndrome – meaning he’s been forced to cancel some upcoming performances and appearances.

“As you can probably see from my face, I have this syndrome called Ramsay Hunt and it is from this virus that attacks the nerve in my ear and my facial nerves, and has caused my face to have paralysis,” he said on Instagram.

“As you can see this eye is not blinking, I can’t smile on this side of my face… It’s pretty serious, I wish this wasn’t the case but obviously, my body’s telling me I gotta slow down.”

He added that he was positive about recovering, and that he is doing some facial exercises to try and regain movement, but he needs time to “get back to 100%”.

Unsurprisingly, the singer was inundated with supportive messages from his fans, followers and friends – and wife Hailey Bieber, of course, who wrote “I love u baby,” on an Instagram Story to reshare his message.

Justin’s musical community also rallied around him, including Shawn Mendes, who wrote: “love you so much. I admire you so much,” and Justin Timberlake, adding: “Love you, bro. Prayers up and sending lots of healing vibes!”

Khloé Kardashian also sent her support, replying: “We are praying for you! We love you!!! Rest up! Everyone understands.”

Justin gave another update to fans on Monday, revealing that his faith has kept him feeling strong. He wrote on his Instagram Story: “Wanted to share a little bit of how I’ve been feelin’. Each day has gotten better and through all of the discomfort I have found comfort in the one who designed me and knows me.
