Competitors from 72 nations and territories, many of which are former British colonies, will be vying for medals in 19 sports over a jam-packed 11 days in the Midlands.
Away from the marquee athletics and swimming events, women’s Twenty20 cricket makes its debut and 3×3 basketball will feature for the first time while sedate lawn bowls are a fixture.
During the opening ceremony, team India will be led by badminton star P.V. Sindhu and the captain of the men’s hockey team Manpreet Singh.
India has sent a squad comprising 215 athletes and 107 officials to the Birmingham CWG 2022. As women’s cricket is making its debut, the games will further connect with the audience at home in India.

It will start at 23:30 IST. Various TV channels including Sony TEN 1, Sony TEN 2, Sony TEN 3, Sony SIX, and Sony TEN 4 will be broadcasting the live telecast.
