Abusupiyan Magomedov is a new prospect to watch as he makes his UFC debut.
UFC Paris is a card that may not feature championship battles but can help set the stage for the future of many divisions within the UFC. Ciryl Gane takes on Tia Tuivasa in what will be a heated heavyweight contest, with the winner solidifying themselves as a top challenger in the weight class. The same can be said for the middleweight division where Abusupiyan Magomedov stands out as the fighter to watch.
Magomedov is making his UFC debut at a time when the middleweight division is looking for new names that can potentially rise to the top of the rankings. Israel Adesanya has a firm grip on the 185-pound title and has successfully dispatched every opponent sent his way. If Magomedov is to become a name to eventually face the champion, he’ll have to start that run with a win in the Octagon.
At 31 years old Magomedov comes into the battle with a 24-4-1 professional record. That run includes time in many MMA promotions around the world, the biggest of which is the Professional Fighters League. Magomedov competed under that banner five times in 2018, putting together a 3-1-1 stint on the largest stage he’s experienced before joining the UFC. While he hasn’t faced many big names in mixed martial arts, the success his resume does show should catch the attention of fans looking for new prospects.
Dustin Stoltzfus looks to build his win streak in the Octagon
Dustin Stoltzfus is poised to welcome Magomedov into the Octagon. This will be Stoltzfus’s fourth official fight in the UFC. He joined the company after picking up a win on the Dana White Contender’s Series back in 2020, but that success did not follow him once he signed a contract. He dropped three straight fights before finally earning a victory against Dwight Grant in July of this year. This is an important fight for Stoltzfus as another win can help keep his place on the roster.
