Funk Flex Shares Unreleased DMX Song After Challenging Swizz Beatz to Unleash a Track From Late Rapper’s Vault

Just a week after Funk Flex challenged him to drop a track from DMX’s vault, Swizz Beatz delivered, and the Hot 97 DJ on Friday premiered an unreleased song from the Yonkers rapper.

Earlier this month, Flex teased the existence of unearthed DMX songs, while urging Swizz, the late rapper’s frequent collaborator, to bless hip-hop fans with said material.

“I’m going to put pressure on [Swizz Beatz] today,” Flex said during his show on Sept. 1. “I heard that there are several unreleased, never coming out DMX songs. Swizz Beatz doesn’t know that I know because someone ratted on you, Swizz.”

He went on to challenge the superproducer to send him a record from X’s vault. “Swizz Beatz, I know you’re in Arabia, I understand you’re on the private jet and I know what’s happening… New York City, just so you know, Swizz Beatz has the studio on the jet.”

Flex added, “Swizz Beatz, I challenge you in six days to get me one of those DMX songs. That’s what New York City wants, that’s what Yonkers wants.”

A week later, Swizz came through, as Flex premiered a DMX record on Thursday night. The track samples Big Daddy Kane’s 1988 hit “Ain’t No Half-Steppin’” and features production from Marley Marl.

“Unreleased, we don’t know when it’s coming out,” Flex said during the song, which featured Swizz saying on the track: “When I say DMX, y’all say, ‘The great.’”
