There’s no better pastime than testing out the coolest new skincare/makeup/hair trends and snazzy innovations in beauty tech from the comfort of your own home. That said, there’s nothing more frustrating than spending upwards of £100 on a new at-home facial system or snazzy pair of hair straighteners, only to find out they don’t *actually* work.
Enter: GLAMOUR Tries, the weekly Instagram series which sees GLAMOUR editors do all of the time-consuming (and expensive) work for you.
Yep, we’ve been busy trying out all of the wacky and wonderful beauty crazes to take the internet (read: TikTok) by storm – from the YSL lipstick printer to Il Makiage’s iconic foundation and even the viral Hair Bedazzler tool from Amazon. These are the products every influencer/Gen-Z beauty sleuth/beauty editor is talking about on the internet – but that you want to be sure about before parting with your money.
Thanks to GLAMOUR Tries, you won’t need to waste your hard-earned pennies on testing these innovations yourself. We’re getting in their first, giving you the lowdown and ensuring you invest in products that genuinely work.
And this week, our Social Media Manager Luca Wetherby-Matthews is trying out easy DIY Halloween nail art using the Mylee The Full Works Complete Gel Polish Kit.
She’s opted for the ghost-inspired look, for which she’s using the white and black gel nail polish. The best part of this look is that it’s super simple and something you don’t have to be super precise for. Plus, using gel polish as opposed to regular nail polish makes it so much easier to control your lines. Even if you mess up, you can easily wipe off and start again, as the gel doesn’t set without a UV lamp.
First, Luca’s spreading the white gel nail polish with the wider nail art tool and outlining the ghost shape on two of her fingers. Next, she’s using a smaller nail art tool to add the eyes using black gel nail polish. Finally, she’s sealing everything with a top coat. The finished result looks incredibly cute and fun and we doubt that anyone could even mistake Luca’s nail art for stick-on nails.
