Blockbuster
Where to watch: Netflix
Let’s start this week off with a new sitcom about an old business!

Blockbuster is a show created by (the arguable killer of Blockbuster) Netflix. It’s a fictional take on the last official Blockbuster store in Oregon, and this show stars Randall Park (from WandaVision and Fresh Off the Boat) as the store’s manager. He’s recently learned that his store is officially the last blockbuster store in existence, and he’s determined to not let it go out of business. Complicating matters is his old high school crush (played by Melissa Fumero from Brooklyn Nine-Nine) starting a job there too, bringing that classic will-they/won’t-they aspect we all love!

Next up, let’s take a look at an intimate drama starring one of the best actresses from the 2010s!
Causeway is a new film starring Jennifer Lawrence (from the Hunger Games, Silver Linings Playbook, and Don’t Look Up). She also produced this film. She plays a military veteran called Lynsey who comes back home to America following a traumatic incident. She’s been left with a brain injury, and isn’t fully sure how re-integrate back into society. She meets a man (played by Brian Tyree Henry from Atlanta and If Beale Street Could Talk) who begins to connect with her, and help her find the person she will become post-trauma. This film also stars Stephen McKinley Henderson (from Lady Bird), and Linda Emond (from Lodge 49).

My Policeman
Where to watch: Amazon Prime Video
Now, let’s take a look at a love triangle!

My Policeman is the first film Harry Styles (from Dunkirk) has starred in since the Don’t Worry Darling drama. In this, he plays a policeman living in 1950s Brighton. He’s closeted, but marries a local school teacher (played by Emma Corrin from the Crown). She’s blissfully in love with him, but he soon meets a man that makes him much happier (played by David Dawson from Year of the Rabbit). The two men have an affair, and when she learns the truth, it threatens to unravel their lives in an emotionally painful manner.

Enola Holmes 2
Where to watch: Netflix
Next up, it’s time for the sequel to Netflix’s feminist Victorian sensation!
Enola Holmes 2 finds Millie Bobby Brown (from Stranger Things) returning to her other most famous role, Enola Holmes. The younger sister of the other famous detective with that surname (played once again by Henry Cavill from Man of Steel), she’s now opened her own detective agency. But she finds she’s still living in the shadow of Sherlock, until one day a young girl comes by asking her to find a missing friend. Enola throws herself into the investigation, determined to prove that she’s an amazing detective in her own right. This film also stars Helena Bonham Carter (from Fight Club), Sharon Duncan-Brewster (from Dune), and David Thewlis (from I’m Thinking of Ending Things).

Weird: The Al Yankovic Story
Where to watch: Roku Channel
Lastly, a parody for biopic lovers, and a biopic for parody lovers!
Weird: The Al Yankovic Story is the official biopic of Weird Al Yankovic, arguably the world’s most famous parody musician. This films play very fast and incredibly loose with his life, telling his story in broad strokes while parodying the famous tropes of the biopic genre. Daniel Radcliffe (from Harry Potter and Miracle Workers) slaps on a curly wig and mustache to play the musician, with supporting performances from Evan Rachel Wood (from the recently cancelled Westworld), Rainn Wilson (from Super), and Julianne Nicholson (from Mare of Easttown).
You can watch the film (with or without a Roku) for free on the Roku Channel, and you can read our review of it here!
