Matchday five of the football World Cup in Qatar saw thrilling action, with Portugal beating Ghana 3-2 in a closely contested match, while Brazil and Switzerland keeping clean sheets against Serbia and Cameroon, respectively. Yesterday also saw the third goalless draw in this year’s tournament between Uruguay and South Korea.

Friday – matchday six – sees Group A and Group B back in action, having last played on the opening matchdays. Hosts Qatar face Senegal, while fellow group-mates Netherlands and Ecuador play each other. The day’s top fixture features Group B’s USA and England facing each other in what could be a cracker of a game, while Wales face Iran in the day’s first fixture.

Wales v Iran
The Welsh look to make a better impression in their second game of the tournament, having drawn their first match against the USA, while Iran continues to play with a lot of their focus on the happenings back at home, with the government cracking down on protestors. The Iranians suffered a 6-2 defeat at the hands of the English in their first game.

Wales play Iran at 3:30pm, IST.

Qatar v Senegal

Hosts Qatar look to put the embarrassment of their first game defeat to Ecuador, against a Senegal team looking to do the same. The African champions come into the game off a good performance against Netherlands, despite losing 2-0, while the hosts deal with the ignominy of becoming the first host nation to lose an opening game in the history of the World Cup.

Qatar v Senegal kicks off at 6:30pm, IST.

Netherlands v Ecuador
Louis Van Gaal’s Dutch side and Gustavo Alfaro’s Ecuador side come into this match-up having had near-identical 2-0 wins against Senegal and Qatar, respectively. Ecuador will hope to become the latest in a line of Davids beating Goliaths against a stacked Dutch side.

Netherlands face Ecuador at 9:30pm, IST

England v United States
This matchday’s most anticipated fixture, a fired-up England face a motivated American side. The Brits come into the fixture on the back of a 6-2 thrashing of Iran, while their opponents look to grab their first win of the tournament having tied their first game against Wales.

England v USA will kick off at 12:30am, IST, November 26.
