She has more than a million followers on Instagram but Gracie Piscopo was relatively unknown to consumers of mainstream media until her relationship with a cryptocurrency king accused of killing his own mother thrust her into the spotlight this week.
As exclusively reported by The West Australian, Piscopo’s partner Andre Zachary Rebelo is facing murder charges after it’s alleged he killed his mother Colleen Rebelo, 58, who was found dead inside her Preston Point Road home in May, 2020.
Mr Rebelo’s bombshell arrest over the murder on Tuesday — more than two years after his mother’s death — has understandably left Piscopo shattered. Piscopo has remained quiet on the subject but more importantly her normally relentless social media posting has come to a standstill.
It’s yet to be seen if her influencing career will be harmed by her partner’s high-profile arrest
The huge popularity of Piscopo has again brought into sharp focus the power of the self-styled influencer — of which Perth is rich breeding ground for.
If an influencer can get that sell just right, the riches enjoyed by success stories like Tammy Hembrow or Bec Judd could be theirs.
Billionaire Kim Kardashian is considered the biggest influencer of all time and earns a staggering six figures for each sponsored post.
Hembrow started her fame as a fitness influencer, grew her Instagram following to almost 16 million, and runs two successful businesses.
As of August, the mum of three’s fortune is estimated to be around $38 million.
