Annapurna Jayanti is observed annually on Purnima in the Margashirsha month of the Hindu lunar calendar, and this day falls on December 8 this year. It celebrates the birth anniversary of Goddess Annapurna, who is believed to be an avatar of Goddess Parvati and the giver of food and nourishment. Hindu devotees fast on this day to be blessed by the Goddess of food.
