Overwatch 2 getting hotfix targeting Sojourn, Doomfist, Roadhog

For fans of Overwatch 2 who have gotten used to the slow balancing of the Overwatch sequel, we have news. And for those who are tired of the dominant Sojourn, Doomfist, and Roadhog, there’s good news for you, too. Game director of Overwatch 2,  Aaron Keller, has stated a hotfix for Sojourn, Doomfist, Roadhog, Ramattra, and Tracer is on the way. This will, presumably, be a mixture of buffs and nerfs, with some of the heroes on the list overperforming and others underperforming.

Sojourn is certainly not on the list of underperformers, and she will likely be one of the characters to get toned down a bit. At the start of Season 2, Sojourn was reworked slightly to move the power from her one-shot railgun to her primary fire. However, this just shifted her strengths around and didn’t actually change much, with some arguing this has made Sojourn even stronger. Meanwhile, Doomfist received an absurd amount of buffs in an effort to make him a more powerful frontline hero, so he will possibly get toned down a bit.

Roadhog is last on the list of those we predict will get swung by the nerf hammer. The One-Man Apocalypse has been a meta pick for quite some time. Roadhog’s synergy with the new and powerful Kiriko have made him an extremely dominant pick due to his one-shot potential and tankiness. As a result, he’ll likely get some tuning down in accordance with the meta of the game.

There are a couple other heroes whose fates are unknown. Ramattra, for one, is seen as quite weak for a launch hero, so he will likely get some buffs. Tracer, on the other hand, is a bit of a wild card, seeing as she recently got a small buff. So we’ll see which direction Blizzard decides to take with her.

The hotfix is back, targeting Sojourn, Roadhog and more in Overwatch 2

One of the more encouraging things to come from this announcement is the return of hotfixes. Something else coming to this hotfix is a crucial fix for a bug in the new Shambali Monastery map. This map allowed characters like Sombra to clip out of the map and shoot enemies from below, so that needed a swift fix. According to Blizzard VP Jon Spector, hotfixes were not utilized early in the game’s lifespan due to a bug with the Overwatch 2 hotfix system. (Meaning no, it wasn’t necessarily due to consoles and cross-play integration.)

If hotfixes are coming back, then hopefully, overpowered heroes can be tuned down at a more reasonable pace. Season 2 of Overwatch 2 has just begun, so make sure to grind out that Battle Pass if you want to get that Ramattra experience before he drops into the competitive ladder.
