Perth Scorchers captain Ashton Turner won the toss and elected to bat first against the Melbourne Stars in their BBL clash at Junction Oval.
Both sides enter the contest with 1-1 records and have named unchanged line-ups from their previous matches.
Import duo Adam Lyth and Faf du Plessis will open the batting for the Scorchers, who are looking to bounce back from an eight-run defeat to the Hobart Hurricanes.
The Stars beat the same opponent by 38 runs in their most recent outing, with opener Joe Clarke belting an unbeaten century.
But power-hitter Marcus Stoinis missed out for the second straight game and has opened the season with back-to-back ducks.
Stoinis will be looking for a big score against his former team, with fellow ex-Scorchers batter Hilton Cartwright backing his teammate to find his groove soon.
“I’d hate to poke the bear with big Stoin because we all know how motivated he is,” Cartwright said.
“He hasn’t got much to prove and that’s always a scary thought.
“It’s going to be phenomenal to see when he does break out and who’s going to be on the wrong end of it.
“I wouldn’t be surprised to see him strike some nice balls.”
