Gregg Wallace and John Torode presented the Celebrity MasterChef special on BBC One. During the festive edition, dancer AJ Pritchard, actress Chizzy Akudolu, drag artist Kitty Scott-Claus and reality star and singer Megan McKenna fought for the champion title. Viewers were left confused when AJ started referencing the late Queen.

The show’s 2010 winner Lisa Faulkner joined Gregg and John to sample the contenders’ dishes.

They were challenged to cook a dinner they would serve at a New Year’s celebration.

Speaking about one of the dishes he was preparing, AJ explained: “What do I do on Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve?

“The thing is, I always watch the Queen do her speech. She always goes to Balmoral in Scotland and I feel like that kind of festive meal that she would definitely enjoy is what I will be cooking for John and Gregg.”

It was Megan who was finally announced as the winner at the end of the episode.

The Christmas special was the second of two, with the previous instalment’s line-up featuring musician Bez, Union J star Josh Cuthbert, soprano singer Lesley Garrett and sprinter Iwan Thomas.

AJ was excited to take part as he said on Instagram “it’s all about having fun”.

He said he loved the festive period and was keen to meet John and Gregg.
