Get ready, One Direction fans, because Liam Payne is teasing new music after over two years from releasing his first solo album, LP 1, in December 2019!
While celebrating the new year in 2023, Liam shared a photo of his celebrations with girlfriend Kate Cassidy and teased new music in the new year. “Happy New Year … I hope 2023 brings you everything you ever wanted. Heck who knows maybe even some new music. Have a good one x,” he captioned his post.
The “Strip That Down” singer first teased new songs via social media when announcing the final act of his livestreamed LP Show, which he’s been hosting since July 2020. The singer also shared that he’ll be singing some 1D classics, like “18,” “Fireproof,” “Through the Dark,” “Stockholm Syndrome,” “Strong” and more during the show.
“I want to end 2020 and start 2021 with my closest fans and friends, and this show will bring together the past, present and future of LP,” Liam wrote. Act four streamed in January 2021, and the musical also told fans that he would be giving viewers “a glimpse into the future” with his musical performance during the show.
Does that mean new music is coming? Well, Liam did announce a new single, “Sunshine,” in August 2021. The track is set to be featured in Disney’s new animated movie Ron’s Gone Wrong.
“Your end of summer jam is right around the corner,” the movie’s official Instagram account captioned a photo. Liam added, “I can’t wait for you all to hear it.”
When it come to a second solo album, the British crooner has kept things under wraps thus far. But after LP1 was released, he did speak about becoming a solo artist.
“This album has grown with me over the last two years — honestly, some of the hardest I’ve spent on this planet,” he said while chatting with Billboard in December 2019. “[LP1] is about my audience getting to know me.”
Liam continued, “It was about finding the right records; I’m a bit of a perfectionist, so that caused a lot of delays. Also, there was one day where I wasn’t very famous, and then there was a day where I suddenly became ultra-famous — and the transition of that is a bit of a headf–k, really. I never predicted that I was going to be part of the biggest boy band in the world, and that it would be a huge thing that would go on for many years and take my life in a completely different [direction].”
While the “Naughty List” singer appears to be keeping information about a possible second record under wraps for the time being, J-14 decided to break down exactly what we know so far. Scroll through our gallery for all the details on Liam’s new music.
