The specs of the upcoming MacBook Pro, shown in Wade Prenner’s tweet from the Canadian Radio Equipment List, was approved on Jan. 11 of this year. The listing doesn’t spill the beans about internal hardware, except for a seeming confirmation that it will support Wi-Fi 6E, which means it can latch on to the 6GHz band. Per MacRumors, “the current 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro support standard Wi-Fi 6, which is limited to 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.”
However, buyers shouldn’t expect any major upgrades for the upcoming MacBook Pro. Gurman recently wrote in his PowerOn newsletter that the new Apple laptops will have the same design as their predecessors. This makes sense because the 2021 models sported a new design, and Apple likes to stick with an aesthetic approach for at least a few generations.
As for the new silicon inside, the M2 Max is said to offer 12 CPU cores and 38 GPU cores, a small bump from the 10 CPU cores and 32 GPU cores on the M1 Max.
