Vitor, 32, says:
I arrived for my date five minutes early. The waitress greeted me and then told me I was the first to arrive, phew!
When I saw my date being walked over to our table I was so happy — she was gorgeous with a great big smile. I knew I would have to try and be funny so I could get to see that smile a lot more.
We talked about so many different things. Music, travel, lots of stories about travel actually. Things that have gone terribly wrong while travelling and things that have been perfect.
We both love jazz music, which is really cool because none of my friends are into it so it was nice to be able to share that. I think we connected really well. She’s very bubbly, funny and energetic and so easy to talk to. She is also a great listener and was really engaged in what I was saying. Our food ended up going cold because we were so busy talking to each other we completely forgot to eat.
At some point we looked at the time and realised hours had gone by so fast. Kirsty was supposed to meet her friends after the date so we finished up and said goodbye for now. We exchanged numbers and we are currently talking and planning when and where to catch up again.
I have called Perth home for seven years now and I’m a little bit adventurous so when I saw Blind Date while scrolling through Facebook one day, I thought I should apply and just see what happens. Worst case scenario, I’d have a great story to tell after. In 2023 one of my goals is to try new things and be even more adventurous so this was a perfect opportunity to do that!
I think the date went really well so let’s see where it’s gonna go!

Kirsty, 27, says:
I arrived for the date fashionably late because I didn’t want to be the first one there. The waiter took me over to the table and we were both equally excited, giggling nervously. I then met Vitor and I was like “wow!”
Vitor is originally from Brazil but has been in Perth for a while now. He was honestly so easy to talk with. I didn’t specify in my application but culture is a big thing for me so this match was perfect.
My mum told me before the date to not be too chatty because you don’t want there to be any awkward silences, but there was honestly none of that. We talked about anything and everything! He asked me about my hobbies, I mentioned I was into running and he said he was training for a half marathon. We bonded over a mutual love for dancing as well. We are both very family-orientated people so that was really nice.
Everything about the date was so easy. Even ordering food. Neither of us had any dietary requirements and we are both open to trying new food / happy to eat anything so we ended up letting the waiter order whatever they thought was the best on the menu.
Vitor works in aged care at the moment but used to have his own photography/videography business, which was something I could relate to because I work in marketing. It was like talking to someone I have known for a really long time.
We were so busy chatting and enjoying ourselves that when I asked him what the time was, it was 9pm! I was supposed to be meeting up with girlfriends nearby after our date and I joked that they probably thought I had been abducted.
I went into this with no expectations so I was truly pleasantly surprised. I applied for Blind Date just to try something new. I’m not afraid to put myself out there for the experience and a good story. It felt pretty safe having a third party involved as well.
We ended up exchanging numbers and texted the following day about organising another catch-up.
