Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is set to get a brand-new map for Season 2, and Activision has released the first teaser clip for the upcoming Resurgence map.
A tweet from the official Call of Duty Twitter account says, “Enjoy a moment of zen before battle.” The video showcases a marble rolling through the sand with Japanese text that translates to Sea Lion. A second tweet from Call of Duty names the new location as Ashika Island, and players can expect a map reveal on January 31.
In addition to Warzone 2’s massive Al Mazrah map, Ashika Island will serve as a smaller map for the battle royale’s respawn modes, which will likely be a comparable size to past Resurgence maps of Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep.
The Japanese text being included in the teaser also supports previous rumors and leaks that Season 2 would have a Japanese theme. Activision has confirmed that DMZ mode is getting wiped for a fresh start, Al Mazrah will have a traditional 1v1 Gulag, and plenty of quality-of-life improvements will be made to both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.
Additionally, several crashes and bug fixes were addressed ahead of Season 2. A January 30 update fixed several stability issues, and the patch notes from January 20 included fixes for the bugs that plagued the in-game chat and battle pass.
