Time to get dirrty…2.0. Christina Aguilera, who has pioneered many trends over the past few decades, including leather chaps, twisted halter tops, body chains, and black-on-blonde highlights, has joined the likes of Kendall Jenner in the unofficial “tights as trousers” club. In an Instagram post shared on Saturday, January 28, the pop star shared a carousel of throwback photos including one in which she is wearing nothing but a pair of black tights. So the “Genie in a Bottle” singer is taking more than one stance: Say no to trousers and say no to tops.
“A few moments from the Aguilera archives ????????️ ,” she wrote in the post’s caption. “One whole year of La Fuerza…It’s more than just music, it’s the memories, the collaborations and so many moments I feel lucky to have shared with all the beautiful minds behind this project????.”
In the tights-only photo, Christina Aguilera is wearing black high-waist opaque tights. Topless, Aguilera covers her chest with her arm. Her hair, worn down and in a middle part, is red.
The 42-year-old pop star posted the photos in celebration of the first anniversary of her experimental Spanish-language album, Aguilera, which was released in three parts starting in January 2022 with La Fuerza (The Strength).
Back in December 2021, Xtina revived her “Dirrty” Era at the People’s Choice Awards, where she wore a black, white, and yellow corseted leotard over fishnet stockings with chaps. She received the Music Icon Award at the ceremony.
“I have always strived for my music to communicate messages of empowerment, whether it’s speaking my own truths or giving voice to those unable to do so on their own,” Aguilera said when accepting the award, per People. “My artistry has always been for the fighters in this world, for those who face adversity, for those wanting to evoke change, my music is for you.”
