New Rangers player Nicolas Raskin is aiming for title glory at Ibrox as he insists he has come to Scotland to be a champion.
The 21-year-old joined Michael Beale’s men on Tuesday’s transfer deadline day and already has league leaders Celtic in his sights.
Despite being undefeated since the new manager took over at the end of last year, Rangers remain nine-points behind the Hoops as the title race reaches the final third.
But with two Old Firm games remaining before the end of the season Raskin has seen enough if his new teammates to be confident of gaining ground on their city rivals.
He said: “I want to be champion for sure, I want to know how it feels to be champion and I want to win trophies.
“We are nine points behind in the league, but we still have two games to go against them so everything can change fast.
“If we win those two games then you never know.”
The Belgium under-21 star is also aiming for next season’s Champions League as he looks to make an impact at the top level.
He said: “I want to play in the Champions League. Not just to play, I want to compete at this level.”
But first he will have his first taste of the Glasgow rivalry when the sides meet in the League Cup final this month.
He said: “It’s very exciting to arrive and have a big cup final so close to come.
“I think the team is confident.”
