The Phoenix Suns sent shockwaves throughout the NBA by acquiring Kevin Durant from the Brooklyn Nets. A superstar changing scenery completely alters the league’s landscape at the season’s midway mark.
Plenty of people in the basketball world had much to say about the blockbuster. Of course, that doesn’t include Kawhi Leonard.
ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk said he informed the Los Angeles Clippers star of the deal after Wednesday night’s game. Leonard reacted with a detailed response.
“Oh.”
Fans laughed at the quintessential Leonard quote.
“Classic Kawhi,” a fan said.
“The man is a prophet,” another fan stated.
“It’s not like you really expected any other reaction from Kawhi,” a fan noted.
“He ain’t scared of him,” another fan theorized.
Per Joey Linn of Clippers Nation, Leonard expanded a tad on his thoughts during the post-game press conference.
“I was just told that before I walked in,” Leonard said. “I’m just focused on what we got to do.”
The Clippers are tied with the Suns and Dallas Mavericks, who acquired Kyrie Irving from Brooklyn, for fourth in the Western Conference standings. Pairing Durant with Devin Booker, DeAndre Ayton, and Chris Paul could make Phoenix a team to beat.
Yet the Clippers are a dangerous contender if Leonard and Paul George stay healthy. That’s proven a big if, but Leonard is averaging 22.0 points per game this season in his return from a torn ACL.
Don’t count on Leonard having much more to say before the Clippers play Durant and the Suns next Thursday.
