The Welsh Open gets underway on Monday with the biggest names in snooker congregating in Llandudno as we near the business end of the season.
The World Championship is just a couple of months away and players are keen to find form and confidence with Sheffield looming large on the horizon.
The Welsh is also the last ranking event on the calendar before the Players Championship which only features the top 16 on the one-year ranking list, so there are plenty of players fighting to get into that tournament, including some of the finest players in the sport.
The likes of Ronnie O’Sullivan, Neil Robertson and John Higgins are all outside that top 16 and need deep runs in Wales to change that situation.
However, there is no guarantee that a big name will be lifting the trophy, as proved by Joe Perry when he won the title last year.

The event runs from Monday 13 to Sunday 19 February at Venue Cymru in Llandudno.
