There’s a handful of Big Ten basketball games set to go down in the afternoon of Super Bowl Sunday.
One of those is a showdown between Iowa and Minnesota. Despite being 7-6 in Big Ten play, the Hawkeyes are only two wins behind second place in what has been a log jam of a conference.
Meanwhile, the Golden Gophers have been the ugly duckling of the Big Ten. They’re 1-11 in conference play and 7-15 overall. Their season is already all but over, and as a result, they’re big underdogs at home against the Hawkeyes.
Let’s dive into the odds for the game and then I’ll give you my best bet.
Iowa vs. Minnesota odds, spread, and total
Iowa vs. Minnesota prediction and pick
I’ve fallen for the trap of betting on Minnesota a couple of times already this season, only for it to get blown out. I’m prepared to fall for that trap one more time.
Iowa’s shooting has been abysmal on the road this season, with its eFG% dropping 10.5% (!!) when playing away from their home court.
It’s also important to know that Iowa doesn’t have a defensive advantage over Minnesota. In fact, the Hawkeyes rank 225th in defensive efficiency and the Golden Gophers rank right behind them at 226th.
I’ll back the underdog in this spot.
