Veteran NBA big man LaMarcus Aldridge has not played this season, but might be getting an opportunity to do so soon.
Aldridge, 37, will work out for the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The seven-time All-Star, who played for the Brooklyn Nets last season, spent the first nine years of his NBA career in Portland from 2006-15.
“Aldridge has been preparing to play in his 17th NBA season. A Dallas native, Aldridge has averaged 19 points and eight rebounds in his career,” Wojnarowski tweeted.
Aldridge originally retired from the NBA as a member of the Nets in April 2021 due to an irregular heartbeat.
However, he returned to the team five months later after receiving medical clearance. Aldridge averaged 12.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per outing in 47 games with Brooklyn in 2021-22.
Aldridge made five-straight All-Star Games from 2012-16 and then made back-to-back appearances in 2018-19. We’ll see if he has enough left in the tank for Portland to sign him.
