José Luis Callisaya Diaz crawled on all fours through the grassland near Chonchocoro prison in La Paz earlier this month with a sheepskin over his back, but guards caught him anyway.
He had made it past security and was trying to break through an external wall at the jail on Feb. 4 when officials noticed Diaz was not in his cell.
The prisoner seems to have believed bad weather would offer cover for his attempt to bolt.
