Mark Allen is determined to keep improving and moving further away from his rivals as he looks ahead to next week’s Duelbits Players Championship in Wolverhampton.
An elite field of the top 16 players will head to Aldersley Leisure Village to compete in the second event in the 2023 Duelbits Series, from February 20 to 26.
Tickets for the ITV-televised event are on sale now and start at just £20 – fantastic value for the chance to see live sport of the highest quality. For details CLICK HERE
Allen will be top seed and has been by far the best player of the 2022/23 season so far, winning three tournaments. But the Northern Irishman is determined to keep improving and take advantage of his golden spell of form by adding more trophies.
“I am working on something on the technical side at the moment,” said Allen. “I have been working on it for around ten days and I feel like something is coming, it’s exciting times for me. I am always searching to get better, to find a way to improve. I want to push on and try to win more.
“Next week in Wolverhampton it’s another chance to win silverware especially as it’s a small field of 16 players, albeit the best 16 players of the season so far. Just being in that event means you’ve had a good season.”
While star names like Mark Selby, Judd Trump and Shaun Murphy will also be in the field in Wolverhampton, other all-time greats will miss out. Neil Robertson won the title last season but he will be absent this time, while John Higgins is also out the running and Ronnie O’Sullivan needs to reach the final of the last counting event, this week’s Welsh Open.
Allen added: “It shows the strength in depth on the tour. Some of the results this season might look like shocks on paper but they are not really.
“The surprise for me is Neil Robertson because he was so good last season. He didn’t play a lot at the start of this season which put him under pressure, and it has backfired on him. He backs his own ability and expects to have good runs in the events he does play in. He will always do what he does and spend more time with his family. In my view Ronnie O’Sullivan has all eyes on Sheffield, he is looking for (world title) number eight.
“The others have taken their chances. Tom Ford for example is one of my mates, he has got results and he’ll be buzzing to be in a big event like this and it’s where he belongs.”
“There are only 16 players there but they are the 16 best this season!” ????
World Grand Prix champ Mark Allen will be looking to win his second @Duelbits Series title of the season at the Players Championship in Wolverhampton next week.
He can’t wait to be there – you can too!????
