PES vs ISL injury update, key players
Peshawar Zalmi injury update, key players in PSL 2023
Peshawar Zalmi have no new injury update reported since Sri Lanka’s Dasun Shanaka joined the franchise as the replacement for injured Sherfane Rutherford.
Skipper Babar Azam had another off-colour outing with the bat (19 runs off 18 balls) after the opener scored 68 and then 9 runs respectively in the other matches. His opening partner Mohammad Haris went ballistic with a 9-ball 18 in the last encounter, hitting four boundaries, but couldn’t consolidate on the good start. Haris came to the game scoring 40 against Multan Sultans.
Saim Ayub, on the other hand, was far from impressive as he was out for a first-ball duck after scoring 53 in the game prior. Tom Kohler Cadmore, who scored 92 in the first game, has turned out to be a one-hit wonder as he failed to get runs in back-to-back two innings.
Rovman Powell, who scored 12-ball 23 a game before, continued in the same vein with a 23-ball 36. Dasun Shanaka, who batted at as low as No. 7, scored a run-a-ball 16 in his first game of the season. James Neesham, who gained momentum with the bat in the last game, scored a fruitful 38 off 23 down the order.
The New Zealander proved pivotal with the ball too as he delivered an economical 1/28 spell after going for runs a game ago on a flat track. The franchise’s senior pacer Wahab Riaz had another wicket-less outing but was a miser in leaking runs this time (0/25).
Arshad Iqbal, who was drafted into the playing 11 for poor-performing Salman Irshad and Khurram Shahzad, was effective initially with a maiden but ended up giving 37 runs for a wicket at the end of his spell.
Leg-spinner Usman Qadir, who did well in the Big Bash League for Sydney Thunder, made the most of the conditions with a spell of 2/26.
Islamabad United injury update, key players
Islamabad United have reported no injuries before the game too. The franchise will like to use it to their advantage after they lost by a heavy margin to Multan Sultans.
Among their top-order batters, Colin Munro maintained a good scoring-run with 23-ball 31 after a half century. Rassie van Der Dussen found further form as the scored 49 off 32 after scoring 31 in the previous game.
Question mark, however, remains over the form of Irish opener Paul Stirling, who flopped again with a knock of 5. His partner Hassan Nawaz got some runs from his bat as he scored 16-ball 21.
Wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan, who scored 44 in the win against Karachi Kings, scored 14-ball 16 while playing the role of finisher at No. 6 while skipper Shadab Khan’s form with the bat remains a concern with another flop show. His form with the ball is under the scanner too as he gave away 82 runs for a solitary wicket in two games.
Tom Curran and Faheem Ashraf couldn’t do much with the bat as well but the all-rounder duo has four wickets together in two games. Their economy rates, however, are still a concern.
Among the full-time bowlers, Rumman Raees took three wickets in two games and have been considerably economical (7.30) in comparison to other teammates. Mohammad Wasim, who was impressive at 2/38 in the game before, gave away 49 runs for a wicket.
Spinner Abrar Ahmed was effective economically upon inclusion into the playing 11 but couldn’t take a wicket. The wrist spinner is expected to play a bigger role in the matches coming up.
