The legendary franchise returns for a spectacular, action-packed experience.
Over ten years have passed since the release of the Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, now the third-person shooter is finally receiving the long-overdue sequel it deserves, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II. The reveal was made during The Game Awards with an epic and very gruesomely impressive trailer. There is no announced official release date at this time.
Warhammer video games are found everywhere nowadays, but its humble beginnings started in the 1980s as a successful tabletop miniature wargame. It wasn’t until nearly a decade later that it entered the video game world by the helping hand of Electronic Arts. Since then, many publishers have had a hand in defining the series and creating a huge fanbase that lasted all the way to the present.
The first Space Marine title was introduced in 2011. Its melee and third-person shooter combat style satisfied a lot of video game action cravings, but that’s not all the series brought to the gaming world. The story follows a group of “Ultramarines,” a group of super-soldiers who combat against an alien invasion of Orks on Forge World Graia, a planet responsible for the manufacturing of military weapons.
As seen in the announcement trailer for Space Marine II, players can expect to once again get in on the alien slaying action. Players will take on the role of a Space Marine, the “greatest of the Emperor’s warriors,” and use a variety of abilities and weapons to take down “relentless Tyranid hordes.”
Focus Entertainment stated the following about what more to expect from gameplay:
