The Los Angeles Lakers are going to be without superstar LeBron James for the foreseeable future.
Just how long James will be out with the right foot injury he suffered in Sunday’s win over Dallas remains to be seen, but the initial timeline is being measured in weeks, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
“LeBron James’s right foot is expected to be reassessed in two weeks to see how much progress he’s made, but timeline on return expected to extend beyond that checkpoint,” Wojnarowski tweeted Tuesday. “Where Lakers reside in standings by then could impact how soon it makes sense for him to return.”
James went down during the second half of Sunday’s game, but initially shook off the injury and remained in the contest. He helped the Lakers erase a 27-point deficit and pull off a 111-108 win.
Currently, LA is 29-32 on the season and in 12th place in the Western Conference. The Lakers are only 0.5 games back of 10th place and a spot in the play-in tournament, but if we’re being honest, it is tough to see them hanging around the postseason chase with LeBron out.
If they begin to fade, we might not see James again this season, and if he does return, it might end up not mattering much.
