It’s been a banner year for Travis Kelce.
Just weeks after powering the Kansas City Chiefs to a Super Bowl win, the 33-year-old tight-end fulfilled another long-time dream: hosting Saturday Night Live. Kelce first showed interest in the gig back in September when SNL cast member Heidi Garnder told Bill Simmon she would like to see Kelce or his teammate Patrick Mahomes take on hosting duties.
“SNL?!? Would be a dream come true!” he tweeted in response.
Kelce confirmed his SNL appearance several weeks ago, when he stopped The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He told the titular host he was honored to get the opportunity, as he’s always been a fan of SNL comedians.
“Growing up, I was a huge [Chris] Farley, [Will] Ferrell, Fallon kind of guy growing up. I used to watch Saturday Night Live with my mother, and it’s an absolute honor and a privilege to be hosting SNL March 4,” he said at the time. “… I am so nervous for that. Oh my gosh.”
Despite the nerves, Kelce handled the episode like a pro. He talked about winning his second Super Bowl ring, how awkward it was to beat his brother, and more.
You can check out Kelce’s full SNL monologue above. This week’s episode also featured musical guest Kelsea Ballerini.
The Ohio native joins a long list of professional athletes who have hosted the long-running sketch show. Stars like LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Tom Brady, J.J. Watt, and brothers Peyton and Eli Manning have all hit the Studio 8H stage.
