The red carpet is being rolled out and the organisers of the 95th Oscars have their fingers crossed the star-studded affair will go off without a hitch — unlike last year — we’re looking at you, Will Smith.
Last year’s drama aside, Australians have secured 10 Oscar nominations this year, including eight-time Academy Award-nominee Cate Blanchett, who is favourite in the Best Actress category for her BAFTA and Golden Globe-winning performance in the psychological drama, Tár.
Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis is up for eight awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Costume Design, Best Production Design and Best Cinematography.
All the action from the red carpet kicks off from 5.30am on Monday on Channel Seven’s Sunrise with Sonia Kruger reporting live from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
The 10 movies up for Best Picture:
Everything Everywhere All at Once
The Banshees of Inisherin
The Fabelmans
Tár
Top Gun: Maverick
Avatar: The Way of Water
Elvis
All Quiet on the Western Front
Women Talking and Triangle of Sadness
