ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith is famous for speaking his mind on matters involving athletes.
Sometimes that can rub them the wrong way and Dallas Mavericks NBA All-Star Kyrie Irving has been one of them. But in this case, Smith recently admitted that things between him and the eight-time All-Star are personal.
“Kyrie and I have our differences on a personal level, which is none of anybody’s business, and I’ll never tell why,” Smith said. “He knows why. And his daddy knows why.”
Irving has been one of the athletes Smith has gotten on most in years past. While he acknowledges Irving’s special talent, which is why he deserves a large sum of money per year, Smith has said Irving needs to be more trustworthy to warrant a long-term contract from a team.
Last June, Irving tweeted at Smith after the ESPN personality criticized Irving for not getting the Covid-19 shot during his tenure with the Brooklyn Nets.
