Disneyland is expanding the May the Fourth unofficial Star Wars holiday into a monthlong celebration of all things related to the 1970s sci-fi epic space opera that has spawned movie sequels, television shows, fan conventions and theme park lands.
Hyperspace Mountain will return to the Anaheim theme park from May 1 to June 3 as part of Star Wars Month, according to the Disneyland social media channels.
Star Wars Month will feature “epic encounters” and themed food and beverage items inspired by the cinematic galaxy far, far away, according to Disneyland. The monthlong event is expected to take place in the Tomorrowland and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge themed lands.
A fleet of X-Wings, TIE fighters and Star Destroyers is heading back to Disneyland with the return of the Hyperspace Mountain takeover of the Space Mountain indoor roller coaster.
The May 1 start date gives Disneyland a few days to absorb the initial crowds sure to turn out for Hyperspace Mountain before the unofficial Star Wars Day on May 4 — as in May the Fourth be with you.

Disneyland is expected to share more details soon on the limited-time run of Hyperspace Mountain and Star Wars Month.
The Star Wars-themed overlay of the Space Mountain coaster was first introduced during the 2015 Season of the Force event. Scenes of X-Wings, Starfighters and even the Millennium Falcon flash on the interior walls of Space Mountain as riders race through the dark aboard the indoor coaster. The highlight: A TIE fighter that heads right for the coaster train with an effect reminiscent of the boulder scene in the Indiana Jones Adventure.
Star Wars Month will overlap with the Star Wars Nite after-hours parties that will run on May 2, 4, 8 and 11 at Disneyland.
The separate admission events feature specialty-themed entertainment, character meet-and-greets, photo op backdrops, food and drinks, collectible merchandise, commemorative keepsakes and unlimited PhotoPass digital downloads along with select rides and shows.
Star Wars Nite will include a “Celebrate the Nite” fireworks show set to symphonic scores from the film franchise, a March of the First Order led by Captain Phasma in Tomorrowland, appearances by Tusken Raiders and Jawas, lightsaber training and galactic churros.
