SHARJAH, 30th March, 2023 (WAM) — The Arab Cycling Federation, headed by Sheikh Faisal bin Humaid Al Qasimi, announced the launch of the first “Arab Cycling City Award.”
The award, which will begin next season, will select the best Arab cities that support and promote the sport among their community members.
The award’s committee will include Abdullah Al Wathlan, Vice President of the Federation, as well as federation members Nawfal Al Marshawi, Ismail Al Hosani, Secretary-General of the Federation, and Yasser Al Doukhi, Assistant Secretary-General of the Federation.
The federation held a remote meeting to discuss the award’s details, and several further meetings will be held after the Holy Month of Ramadan to identify its requirements and rules.
The award will aim to encourage the use of bicycles as a means of transport while promoting sustainable development in Arab cities.
