Ben Foster suffers ultimate blunder while filming Wrexham win on gopro

Ben Foster suffered the ultimate blunder while recording Wrexham’s 5-1 home win over Oldham athletic on Saturday after his gopro died. The 39-year-old used to film some of his Watford games, giving fans a view of the matches from inside his goal, and he has decided to carry on that content for his YouTube channel after sealing a return to Wrexham.

Foster managed to record two of Wrexham’s first half goals, which were scored by Eoghan O’Connell and goal machine Paul Mullin. But Foster’s gopro died shortly after, failing to capture Oldham’s only goal of the game, which came on the stroke of half-time through Liam Hogan.

Luckily, Foster managed to sort his technology out for the second half and captured his reaction for a further three Wrexham goals, scored by ex-West Ham player Elliot Lee and Mullin, who completed his hat-trick. Oldham also received a red card with a few minutes to spare.

Foster and Wrexham are yet to be beaten since the former England international’s return to the Wales-based non-league club. Wrexham – owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney – also set a new club points record. They have collected 100 National League points in 40 games, and hold a three-point advantage over title rivals Notts County with six games to go.

Wrexham are on course to reach League Two and have a massive pre-season fixture against Manchester United to look forward to this summer. They’re taking on the Red Devils in San Diego, California, but will play United fringe and academy stars.

And despite Wrexham not facing United’s best, fans will have to pay a fortune to see the two sides slug it out in the States. As of Sunday, the cheapest ticket inside the Snapdragon Stadium is $195 (£158).

On the financial front, despite record results on the pitch, Wrexham have posted financial losses of nearly $3.6m (£3m). But it’s hardly going to dent Reynolds’ pocket, with the A-lister selling one of his companies for over a billion dollars. Reynolds and McElhenney completed their takeover in February 2021.

Last year, a documentary series called ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ was streamed on Disney Plus, boosting their worldwide audience, particularly in the United States. The club was also included in the popular FIFA 23 video game.
