Pant, who miraculously survived an accident while on his way to his hometown Roorkee in Uttarakhand from New Delhi on December 30 last year, is on the path to recovery from injuries which have kept him out of cricketing action since the start of this year.
“Rishabh Pant is H.E.R.E. Our owners and #RP17 in attendance at #QilaKotla, rooting our DC Boys,” Delhi Capitals captioned an image of Pant along with the franchise owners.
Earlier in the day, Delhi Capitals players wished their regular skipper Pant a speedy recovery. IPL shared a video on Twitter of DC players wishing Pant to recover soon and get back on the field.
DC came up with a kind hearted gesture to show their love to Pant during their IPL 2023 opening match against Lucknow Super Giants. DC tweeted an image of Pant’s jersey hanging in the dugout and captioned “Always in our dugout. Always in our team”.
Delhi’s Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly also admitted that the side missed their regular skipper Pant against Lucknow but he sees it as an opportunity for youngsters to prove their worth. He also cited an example of how Pant got into the Indian team.
“We of course missed Rishabh Pant, but it gives an opportunity to a lot of other youngsters. Pant came when Dhoni left and that is how youngsters get an opportunity. Right now what is important for us is Rishabh Pant’s recovery,” said Ganguly.
