A Georgia mom of seven was killed by her jealous ex-boyfriend, who walked up to her in a Chik-fil-A drive-thu, opened fire and then turned the gun on himself, according to authorities and her family.

The shocking murder-suicide unfolded in front of horrified commuters lined up for breakfast about 7 a.m. Wednesday at the fast-food joint on Shorter Avenue in the city of Rome northwest of Atlanta, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Anthony Wayne Green, 56, got out of his car, walked over to Cassie Davis, 39, and shot her three times through the passenger-side window with a revolver, according to Floyd County Deputy Coroner Chris Giles.

He then turned the gun on himself.

Giles said the two people had a prior relationship.

With her body slumped behind the wheel, Davis’ SUV rolled forward, hit a power box and went down an embankment into traffic without hitting other vehicles.

Assistant Police Chief Debbie Burnett said the preliminary investigation determined the shootings were a murder-suicide, the Rome News Tribune reported.

“The incident is not related to Chick-fil-A but rather occurred on the property of the restaurant,” Burnett said.

She said police initially were sent to what they believed was a car accident.

“Prior to arrival, officers received more information that the incident was a shooting rather than an accident,” Burnett told the news outlet.

Davis’ distraught mother, Kathie Walters, described the killer as a jealous ex-boyfriend, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

“She didn’t have a mean bone in her body – she was everybody’s friend,” she told the news outlet. “We lost a very sweet lady. She was a good mother of seven.”

She said Green “just wouldn’t leave her alone. That’s one thing she told me yesterday, that he was following her around.”

Jackson Davis, who was married to Davis for 12 years, mourned the loss of his ex-wife.

“She had two boys when we got married. And then, we had two girls,” Jackson told 11 Alive.

“And then, this is the kind of person Cassie is — she took my granddaughter and my grandkids in. Grandkids that she didn’t have to raise. And she raised them as her own,” he said.

“What do you say when your granddaughter said, ‘Daddy do you have Jesus’ number because I want to talk to mama one more time?’” Jackson said.

He added that a family member is the 911 dispatcher who took the initial call.

Meanwhile, Cassie’s brother Doug Walters said he was surprised to find out that Green was the killer.

“This isn’t somebody I met a month ago. I mean, I’ve known him forever,” he told 11 Alive.

“I’m just truly lost for words. I mean, I don’t….my mind can’t—it doesn’t want to develop what’s really took place,” he said about the shooting. “I mean, it just feels like I’m in a dream and need to wake up.”

Walters added: “If you’re in one of those relationships—a jealous relationship or anything like that, get out of it before it’s too late, because jealousy doesn’t look good on anybody.

“A man that would take the life away from their babies and then pull a gun on himself? That’s not justice — that’s a coward,” he said.

Davis’ children reportedly range in age from 5 to 18.

Her aunt Effie Wilson lamented the senseless murder.

“Nobody thinks anymore, they’re killing children, they’re killing adults,” she told Fox 5. “There were more women out there, there was no use in taking her away.”

She added:  “I know she’s in heaven, but that doesn’t help my heart and nobody else’s. It seems like a dream — I just want to wake up.”

Greg Major, the general manager of the Chik-fil-A said in a statement to the community that “a horrific incident occurred outside our restaurant this morning. We are currently cooperating with the police who are investigating.

“No other guests or team members were hurt but we mourn with the community. We have closed the restaurant for the day to repair and care for team members,” he added.
