HARARE – Southern Africa-focused fintech Mukuru has launched a drive-thru service for domestic and international money transfers in Zimbabwe’s capital Harare, the first of its kind in the region.
Mukuru country manager for Zimbabwe, Marc Carrie-Wilson said the new drive-through branch in Harare’s Chisipite suburb aimed to enhance the fintech’s promise of making financial services more accessible to people across Zimbabwe.
“Safety remains a top priority for us, and the drive-thru idea proved to be the safest and most convenient option for our customers,” Carrie-Wilson said.
The drive-thru is one of the fintech’s newest locations in Zimbabwe, joining nine other sites which launched in February.
Carrie-Wilson said drive-thru would open daily from 7am (0500 GMT) to 7pm (including public holidays) “and comes with a ‘walk-in’ option for customers who wish to register or visit the location on foot.”
He also announced launched that Mukuru had launched other services in the past few months to build a diverse product offering for customers, including a partnership with pay television service provider Multichoice which is aiming to make paying for DStv more convenient.
Mukuru also formed a partnership with Bereka to deliver money transfers directly to customers across Zimbabwe, Carrie-Wilson said.
