“Are you lost yet?” is not only the question luxury boutique hotel El Perdido poses to its guests, but a mission statement. Located in a rural town in Baja California Sur, the property itself is off the beaten path, down a long dirt road in Pescadero. Unassuming, yes, but what lies beyond is nothing short of striking.
With a long pool lined by cabana-style sun beds, seven private villas with their own outdoor baths, an observation tower showcasing desert-land and sunsets, personal telescopes, and more, the seemingly modest resort has all of the amenities that a well-traveled adventurer has come to expect—and then some. The property’s restaurant, Coyote, even uses some of the freshest local seafood and vegetables for a transcendent dining experience: from a soft shell crab starter to baja style fish taco entrée and more.
With all of these details packed into one experience, El Perdido makes getting lost—or better yet, losing yourself—easy. “I used to be a busy person, just like you,” says the owner, “So you can understand when I tell you that I was tired of the noises and chaos in the big cities. I felt like I needed to escape from all of that, so that’s why I ended up in Mexico, specifically Baja California Sur. Here I found Pescadero, a beautiful oasis with the most lovely sunsets and close to the things that I love the most: great food, calmness and the sea.”
