Established in 1897, Harvey and Thompson (H&T) Pawnbrokers are one of the UK’s leading pawnbrokers, with 259 stores throughout the UK. This year sees the company celebrate its 125 ^th anniversary.

H&T will be celebrating this incredible milestone in stores and online, with events planned across the business. From in-store bunting and graphics, to a trip back in time and a detailed look at the company’s history on the H&T website, there are plenty of exciting ways to help celebrate a long life in the world of pawnbroking throughout June.

The retail division of the business has curated a range of jewellery to celebrate the special occasion, which is available now in all stores and online, priced at £125.

A lasting legacy

H&T is proud to be one of the industry leaders in modern pawnbroking, a lending principle that dates back hundreds of years, allowing people to borrow money based on the value of their assets.

The company has come a long way from its humble beginnings in 1897 when Walter Harvey and Charles James Thompson first registered the Ltd. business and opened its inaugural store in Vauxhall, London. The initial store was so successful, that just five years later, they had another two stores on the famous Lambeth Walk.

Overcoming obstacles, such as the Bermondsey store fire in 1906, the business still stood strong and by 1915 had a total of 19 stores. Today, that total stands at an impressive 259 stores serving customers all across the UK.

In its 125 ^th year in business, H&T has expanded even further, with three new stores opening soon in Wales, set to provide even more people with the experience and expertise all its staff have to offer.

H&T Pawnbrokers has people at the heart of everything it does, with employees and customers at the core of the business. The company currently employs more than 1400 colleagues at 259 stores and three support centres.
