Where is Cape Verde?

Cape Verde, also known as Cabo Verde, is located off the west coast of Africa.

It is an archipelago and island country that is found in the central Atlantic Ocean.

This stunning destination consists of ten sub-tropical and volcanic islands – all with something different to offer tourists.

The islands that make up this tropical paradise include:

  • Sal
  • Boa Vista
  • Fogo
  • Sao Vicente
  • Santiago
  • Maio
  • Brava
  • Santa Luzia
  • Santo Antao
  • Sao Nicolau

How long is the flight to Cape Verde from the UK?

Travellers making their way to Cape Verde directly from the UK can expect to be in the air for around five or six hours.

If you choose to fly from London Gatwick, the journey will take approximately 5 hours and 32 minutes.

Those with connecting flights can expect to be travelling for a longer duration.

In order to travel to Cape Verde, jet-setters must have at least six months left on their passport on arrival.

If you’re hoping for a longer relaxing break – the good news is Brits can stay in Cape Verde for up to 30 days without a visa.

However, should your stay be longer than the permitted 30 days, or your reason for travel be anything other than tourism, you should find your nearest Cape Verde embassy for more assistance.

Cape Verde has now resumed normal practice with all Covid-19 entry requirements scrapped.

Which UK airports have flights to Cape Verde?

If you’re thinking about visiting Cape Verde soon, you might be wondering what your best way of travelling there is.

Currently, travel giant TUI is the only UK operator offering direct flights to the sunny destination – and here’s where from.

The airline fly’s to Sal’s Amílcar Cabral International Airport (SID), and Boa Vista’s Aristides Pereira Airport (BVC).

However, indirect flights to other islands are also available.
